A leading specialty company focused on agricultural technologies.

 

Role Context

  • Guiding and managing overall project lifecycle including stage gates and governance processes
  • Focus on managing software development and application enhancement related projects.
  • Establish and validate the high-level project scope; developing initial Project Plans aligned with PM methodology and project deliverables. Focus on critical success factors and risk management.
  • Ensure project plans developed by another project manager and then transferred to your care are sound and complete and then refined where needed with IR Resource Manager.
  • Ensuring that all the key stage gate controls are adopted and adhered to as a project moves through its life cycle. Ensure that individual project elements are costed & tracked and that everything is submitted to the relevant stakeholders for approval as needed
  • Build & maintain a relationship with key stakeholders, Venture Manager, and IT Resource Managers and PMO throughout the project life cycle
  • Ensure effective and proactive communications with these stakeholders. Mediate problems encountered by project team, and elevate issues to Venture Manager, IT Resource Managers, and Steering Committee as the need arises, while providing regular updates. Ensure that there is a strong focus on regular communications to all project resources & stakeholders
  • Ability to manage multi-discipline and functional team members.
  • Organize and lead Project Team Meetings to ensure the project is on-track and on-budget. Identify and address any emerging issues as early as possible.
  • Conduct project reviews (lessons learned) in order to improve the effectiveness of the project teams and project management function within the PMO
  • Must be able to operate well in a remote environment and be flexible with working hours to accommodate up to two weekly meetings to connect with resources from different time-zones.
  • Foster trust and transparency to optimize team productivity and facilitate open dialog.

Ideal Candidate

  • Three to five years relevant project management experience, of which at least one year involves leading multi-disciplinary project teams in a business information systems related function
  • Business process knowledge and business process re-engineering experience is expected
  • The position requires an understanding of the technical, functional and change management elements involved in the planning and execution of Information Systems projects
  • Must embrace change and be able to work within a dynamic environment
  • Understanding of financial, budgeting, evaluation and risk management tools
  • Must possess good written and oral communication skills, with demonstrated ability to communicate technically and in business terms
  • Understanding or previous experience in Travel Management, Customer Service or Operational type initiatives would be beneficial but not essential
